Brian Kroshus

Brian became North Dakota’s 25th Tax Commissioner in January of 2022. 

Before his appointment to Office of State Tax Commissioner, Brian served as a commissioner on the North Dakota Public Service Commission for almost five years, winning election in both 2018 and 2020, garnering almost 70% of the vote and capturing the most votes ever for a PSC Candidate in 2020. 

Prior to public service, Brian spent almost 30 years in private-sector business management and executive-level leadership, overseeing award-winning business units spanning 20 states across the continental United States. In addition to receiving national recognition and his background in business, agriculture and energy, he continues to be actively involved with volunteer work and his grain and cattle operation in western North Dakota.

Brian has served as a board member and trustee for numerous organizations including Missouri Slope United Way, Bismarck-Mandan Chamber of Commerce, Bismarck-Mandan Development Foundation, Sanford Health Foundation and Bismarck State College Foundation. Brian served as president of the Bismarck State College Foundation from 2012-2013 and co-chaired the United Way Missouri Slope Areawide Annual Gift Giving Campaign in 2009.
