As you can see , Heidi Heitkamp has always relied on national Democrats- like Bill Clinton in 2012– who, after being elected, saw voters go to the polls and reject their policies on election day. 2018 is no exception.
Recently Heitkamp has received strong support Former U.S. Attorney Tim Purdon, Former Congressman Earl Pomeroy, Former HHS Deputy Secretary Mary Wakefield, Former Senator Kent Conrad, Former USDA Secretary Vilsack, Former Senator Byron Dorgan, and of course, former (thankfully) 2016 Presidential nominee Hillary Clinton. Seems like Heitkamp’s main requirement for campaign surrogates is “Former” in your title and “Democrat” as your party affiliation.
This is a strong contrast with Kevin Cramer, whose campaign has the support of nearly every current statewide official in North Dakota, and whose work in Congress has attracted a slew of visits to North Dakota from current Cabinet secretaries. Oh, and Cramer has one more pretty important endorsement:
Though they all represent failure, these out-of-touch, liberal Democrats are propping up Heitkamp’s vulnerable campaign so she will continue to push their disastrous policies of the past,” said North Dakota Republican Party Communications Director Jake Wilkins. “North Dakota voters have already rejected them and their ideas before, and they will again this November.”
