Candidate Spotlight – Josh Gallion, State Auditor

Let me begin by saying thank you for your past support.  Serving North Dakota as its State Auditor has been a tremendous honor and I am excited about the opportunity to continue in a second term.  We all want good government that is effective and responsive to our needs.  The State Auditor’s Office supports this by providing independent, objective information about our government that is transparent and accessible.  Some of my accomplishments have been:

Reestablishing a Mission, Vision and Values
Mission: to produce informative audits that improve government
Vision: a diverse team committed to generating greater value for the taxpayers
Values: Respect, Excellence, Leadership, Integrity, and Teamwork

Restored Local Government Audit Team in Bismarck
The demand for audit services by local governments have grown in recent years.  I have worked with the legislature to help meet this demand so our local government clients can obtain this service from the State Auditor’s Office.

Defined the Citizen Initiated Petition Process
More and more citizens are demanding accountability of public funds in local governments.  I worked with our audit team to develop a process and guidelines for citizens to initiate an audit of their local government.

Culture of Excellence
The North Dakota State Auditor’s Office has received awards for our redesigned reports and has been named a top 10 place to work by the Bismarck-Mandan Young Professionals Network.  We are the only government agency to receive that award this year.

As a military veteran who served at Minot Air Force Base, I have always had a calling to serve others and be a part of something greater than myself.  This is why I continue to support veterans today as an officer of the American Legion Post #1 in Bismarck.  I thank all my fellow veterans for fighting for our freedoms and our partners in law enforcement preserving it here at home.

My wife Becky and I live in Bismarck with our two daughters.  We love North Dakota because it is a great place to work, play and raise a family.
