NDGOP Elects New State Party Chairman, Leadership at Annual Meeting

BISMARCK — The North Dakota Republican Party (“NDGOP”) is pleased to announce that Perrie Schafer was elected as State Chairman at the organization’s annual State Committee meeting that took place this past weekend in Medora. Schafer, a Mandan, ND businessman and District Committee Chair, had earned the support of outgoing NDGOP State Chairman Rick Berg after Berg chose not to run for re-election.

Schafer, 61, brings to the role a wealth of business and management experience, having developed successful, North Dakota-based businesses over the past 40 years. In addition to mobilizing the grassroots and robustly resourcing the NDGOP for future election cycles, Schafer will prioritize advancing the Republican Party platform here in North Dakota.

“I am honored to have been selected by my fellow Republicans to lead our great state in such a consequential election cycle,” said Schafer. “The far-left is determined to bring their failed ideas to places like North Dakota, which is why we must be vigilant in building the NDGOP to keep our proven record of conservative leadership strong at the local, state, and national level.”

He continued: “I want to express my immense gratitude to outgoing Chairman Rick Berg for his service to the NDGOP. Under his leadership, we built supermajorities in the legislature, fended off dangerous ballot initiatives from outside, liberal groups, and elected a complete slate of Republican leaders at the state level.

In addition to Schafer’s election as Chairman, the NDGOP also selected the following Republicans for other leadership posts within the Party:

John Odermann elected First ViceChair
Carma Hanson re-elected Second ViceChair
Erika Kenner elected Secretary
Nick Hacker re-elected Treasurer
Chuck Walen re-elected Region I Chairman
Bruce Gjovig elected Region II Chairman
Jacob Strinden elected Region III Chairman
Claus Lembke re-elected Region IV Chairman
